This morning students in Grades 6 and 7 had the opportunity to participate in a traditional Indigenous drum making experience with Mark Hall from Anish Corporation. Mark is a cultural support worker who brings experiences to youth in order to keep traditional Indigenous learnings alive. This morning, he led students through the process of drum making using Elk hides. The Grade 1/2 class was selected by the Winnipeg Jets for this year’s Reading Takes Flight visit. Kyle Connor and Mason Appleton joined the class in a video call. They read the class a book, and answered questions. Each student received a copy of the book that the players read, “Whiteout: A Winnipeg Jets Story”. What an exciting day! The students later wrote about the day and drew some incredible pictures of Kyle Connor. Go Jets Go!
