This morning students in Grades 6 and 7 had the opportunity to participate in a traditional Indigenous drum making experience with Mark Hall from Anish Corporation. Mark is a cultural support worker who brings experiences to youth in order to keep traditional Indigenous learnings alive. This morning, he led students through the process of drum making using Elk hides. He taught students the significance of Indigenous traditions including smudging, honouring the four directions, and offering tobacco to Mother Earth. This was an incredible experience and we are thankful Mark was able to offer this to our students!
